The forest includes several species of primates such as chimpanzees, red-capped mangabey, red-eared monkeys, baboons, red colobus, and the endangered drill among others. Other species such as leopards, buffalos and elephants are also included in the park. Most of the species are threatened and under extinction due to poaching and other human activities. 


3. Cameroon’s Name After Crustacean

The inhabitants they were earlier, included the Sao civilization around Lake Chad and the Baka hunter-gathers in the southeastern rainforest. When the explorer Fernando Po from Portuguese reached Cameroon in 1472, he had to face the huge numbers of prawns he found in the River Wouri. After this, the Portuguese explorers renamed the area Rio dos Camarones. Afterwards, this became Cameroon in English.
